Shelter at home…and write a story. That’s what the 5000 Words students did, and the results are in. Click the titles to read.

1st Place – Caroline Lewis “For the Glory of Andoras”

Caroline is sixteen in her sophomore year of school. Writing has been one of her hobbies for quite a while, but recently she has found that she likes creating poetry best. She loves describing things in ways no one would think of while trying to glorify God in what she writes. Writing is one of the many other things she enjoys doing such as singing, hiking, cooking, reading, and hanging with her nine-member family. She specifically thanks her eight-year-old twin brother and sister for never getting tired of her stories and being supportive in even her most absurd tales.

2nd Place – Matthew Wadsworth “The Human Condition”

Matthew Wadsworth is seventeen years old, and according to his mother, He is a kind, hard-working young man, very much loved by his family and everyone that knows him. Matthew has an excellent sense of humor.
He has a very eclectic in music and loves everything from Classical music to Hip-Hop. His passion is photography, serious mountain hiking, and nature in general, which inspires his photographs. He hopes to continue to expand his creative horizons in the future

3rd Place – Sam Russell “The Void King”

Sam is sixteen and taking college classes at Tri-C. He is an Eagle Scout with scout troop-500, and enjoys making miniature origami, ballroom dancing, and running. Upon first hearing the class was called ‘5000 words’ because students would learn to write five thousand words, he laughed. By the end of the class, to his own surprise, he had a ten thousand word story that was fun to write.
