“A man of character finds a special attractiveness in difficulty, since it is only by coming to grips with difficulty that he can realize his potientialities.” – Charles de Gaulle.
As of this post, Luke has achieved the rank of Staff Sargeant in the Lorain County Civil Air Patrol, a program I can’t recommend highly enough. Â CAP teaches leadership, survival training, flight training, physics, and military etiquette. Â Luke’s first-ever camp experience was an 8 day camp at Fort Pickett, Virginia, where he met some great friends and, as Charles de Gaulle put it, took the opportunity to plumb his “potentialities.”
Awesome job, Luke! You rock!!
Loved this post – Luke is such an exceptional young man; I’m sure the CAP experience will only further refine those qualities over the years. Glad you shared these. What an inspiration to all the younger boys out there.

Love those pictures of his board! (I’m assuming that is what he’s doing). I’m so glad you introduced us to CAP!! As long as the boys don’t kill each other trying to outdo one another, this will be a great experience 🙂
Ha! Agreed! So far competition hasn’t killed either of them… I loved watching them actually work TOGETHER doing the 3-legged race at the ARCHERS picnic. 🙂
Hey, boys don’t always kill each other
You’re right-o, Spockcuster, especially when they have no emotions! 🙂
