The (Beer) Glass Half Full

Or, what’s up with the shape of that glass on your book cover, Kelly?

I know some of you are wondering? Why not a stein? Or your basic pint glass? When the lovely and infinitely patient Paramita Bhattacharjee initiated the design for Spiked, I knew I wanted a non-traditional glass. I knew because my favorite beer comes in a snifter glass. BTW, fave beer: Hop Juju, Fatheads Brewery. The glass on the cover is not a snifter, however. It’s a goblet. The difference appears slight, but to beer aficionados like my character, Rory, glassware matters.

As soon as the beer hits the glass, its color, aroma and taste is altered, your eye candy receptors tune in, and your anticipation is tweaked. Hidden nuances become more pronounced, colors shimmer, and the enjoyment of the beer simply becomes a better, more complete, experience.

Beer Advocate

Did you know all that was going on when you did your beer curl? Until I started researching for Spiked, I sure didn’t. Did you know beer is the third most popular drink on Earth, after water and tea? It predates written language (well if that doesn’t crush my word-lover’s heart). You can read more amazing beer facts here. But more importantly, if you’re reading this and you’re not getting my newsletter SIGN UP FOR IT ALREADY!! JK on the word-screaming. I just shared a letter on why a cup half full of horror is a good thing. Disagree with me? If you sign up for my newsletter, I’ll forward it to you. We can debate about it.

That’s a Columbus Bodhi in my hand. Yum.

If you want to pre-order the electronic version of Spiked, go HERE. And guess what?? The paperback is now available for pre-order from Barnes and Noble.
